Peek Peek

Peek Peek is an early-stage marketing technology startup in the UCI Wayfinder Incubator program. Their main product combines virtual reality technology with the function of web design to create a new immersive web browsing experience: the WebTour. Their website poorly demonstrates who they are and what their product is about. The lack of an effective platform has slowed their process of generating more leads.

Getting the user to understand the value of the product quicker

The challenge was to redesign their current website and make it responsive across all platforms so that it will showcase their previous works well and provide clear information about what the company’s services are. I've conducted data analysis meetings and workshops with the CEO and CMO to create a more collaborative effort in redesigning their website.

By making the website's information easily digestible and accessible, users would have a better understanding of the company and what their product is to feel more confident before contacting them. We featured a demo of their product at the top of the homepage to allow for a more immersive experience before scrolling down the website and making initial contact more easily accessible by adding a link to the bottom of every page.

Stakeholder Interviews

We used our personas to guide design decisions, empathy, and flows. I prioritized transparency and simplicity to focus on user convenience. This priority was targeted towards creating a stronger relationship built on trust and consistency. I realized that great customer loyalty meant opportunities for repeat clients and Virtual Tour evangelists - both of which were necessary for generating more leads.

Transparency & Consistency

Users mentioned that the current site's information was very underwhelming and failed to communicate the purpose of PeekPeek's product. There were several broken links and had little-to-no information about the company.

We decided to redesign their homepage with a clear layout and strategic content hierarchy in order to create a better launchpad experience. My goal was to streamline the process of accessing necessary information and a demo by creating a better launch pad experience. By offering this experience, users are more likely to trust and be engaged with Peek Peek’s product.

easily digestible content

Based on the interviews and testing feedback, laying out all previous work and case studies in a grid would leave marketing coordinators feeling overwhelmed by the amount of choices.

Inspired by Netflix, I decided to clearly categorize their work into industries and give users the ability to scroll down each section. I worked with the CEO and CMO to prioritize the order of the demos they wanted to showcase.

The current design also didn't have a separate contact page. Being a start-up at UCI, I provided clarity on their location in case potential clients wanted to meet onsite.

Key Learning

A Growing Experience

The biggest pushback we got from the client was in their SEO-optimization requests and balancing them against the ideal experience. For example, a request was for more space to explain their product's features on the homepage so that Google can crawl the page better. This was against my competitive audit recommendation to reduce text in order to provide a better experience. I overcame this by having a discussion with the client's marketing manager regarding SEO being only one source of traffic. We also looked at bounce rates to better understand that despite high Google search rankings, the negatively impacted UX was making users leave and not consider the business.

They have yet to update the site with the latest design, but my first iteration of the website can be seen here.
